We demand a more organic future.

According to an American biologist and paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould the human biology has not seen any significant evolutionary development over the last 40 000 – 50 000 years. This was long before anyone could even pronounce “synthesised pharmaceuticals”. This is not to say modern medicine has not done wonders with the life expectancy and general wellbeing of a human life, but as with most things, there are two edges to this sword.

The dependency of modern humans on pharmaceuticals has reached a boiling point. We take a pill to get up, a pill to fall asleep, a pill to feel energised, a pill to relax, a pill to concentrate, a pill to ease pain… Nowadays there is pretty much no physiological or neurological condition a doctor would not happily prescribe medication for. And why wouldn’t they, it’s the same large pharmaceutical manufacturers that pay a significant portion of your local family doctor’s salaries. This is one of the largest conflicts of modern medical industry – a vicious circle of curing drug induced symptoms with other drugs. As a snowball effect the pharmaceutical companies have grown to an untouchable level of influence. Breaking the cycle for some organic natural medicine or relief provider will always stay out of reach.

What if there was a way out? Or at least some means for course correction in form of free will. Instead of being figuratively force-fed drugs, having a choice of going with an all-natural alternative. This is exactly what Organia was founded for – creating awareness of both the issue and the solution. After decades of research and personal experiences, the four guys from Estonia and Finland aim to take on the fight of a lifetime. A modern-day David and Goliath if you will.

The benefits of the cannabis plant have long been hidden. Is it due to the fear of drug abuse or of the impact in drug consumption – we’ll never know. Over the past decades however research has begun enlightening us on the actual effects cannabinoids have on the human body. As it turns out humans and many other living organisms have something called an endocannabinoid system, which similarly to the nervous system is a complex cell-signaling system that regulates a wide range of biological and neurological functions such as mood, pain perception, sleep, appetite, and many others. The receptors of this system can be found throughout the bodies organs and neurological systems. Meaning the compounds found in the cannabis plant not only have a very direct way of influencing the human body but are also already created by that same body. So how can something the body produces be determined harmful and even illegal for human consumption.

Now put yourself in the shoes of Big Pharma. You have a new fully natural and organic product slowly creeping in, creating unwanted awareness of your business, and stepping on the toes of your revenue growth. What would you do? Kill it from ground up before it ever reaches threatening levels? Definitely. That’s exactly what we have been seeing so far. What about now, as more and more attention has been turning towards this topic and many countries worldwide have begun legalising the use of cannabinoids in some form or other? Well, if you can’t beat them, join them. Or in this case, own them. Which is what you will find big pharmaceutical companies have been up to recently.

We are here to say, enough is enough. No amount of money can ever be valued higher than human life. The recent awareness campaign organised by Organia is to let big pharma know that while we may be small and we may not be able to change the world entirely, we will certainly do our part and set the snowball on its way.
